These are Daily Devotional Messages For Those In The Services – Past and Present.

Posts are from the Book ” Strength For Service To God and Country.”
Strength for Service To God and Country is a devotional book specifically created to provide spiritual support to armed forces personnel during World War II and the Korean conflict. Tailored for military personnel, this book provides a source of comfort and spiritual strength, making it an enduring and valuable resource for military personnel navigating the challenges of war throughout history.

During times of war, individuals called to serve others frequently seek solace and inner fortitude from spiritual sources. Today, there continues to be a pressing and heightened demand for published materials that provide insights into life’s profound inquiries.

This book was expanded in 2000 by a United Methodist men’s group, Strength for Service, Inc. has evolved into a non-denominational 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to providing daily spiritual solace to those who tirelessly safeguard our well-being and security.

It is my intent to share these words of God and build a Veterans group based in my church – The Headland Methodist Church.

GOD’S PRESENCE
My Father shall give you another Comforter… Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him; but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. John 14:16, 17.
God’s presence is not merely a thought, but a reality. God does not exist for you and me as Christians merely as a Supreme Being or an Eternal Reality, or as a cosmic Force. God is not merely the “Wholly Other” – a transcendent God – but God dwells in you and me by His Holy Spirit. This is not only the promise of our Devine Lord as recorded in the Scripture, but the experience of countless hundreds who have found it to be a fact.

God’s Spirit is in you and me by our faith and trust in jesus Christ our Lord. This presence of God does not come to us as some sixth sense, adding something to our intellect, to our feeling, or to our wills; but it comes to us in our whole mind, dwelling there and making it vital and powerful. We are the dwelling place of the Spirit of God; we are His Temple.
Our personalities are His means of expression so that God in His presence dwells within us each day. The presence of God does some some very vital things for us. He gives us us power for every day, power to do the things that we should do, and power to build our characters as they should be built. In this the Spirit of God become the Teacher, our Guide, and our Comforter.

So God comes to you and me, not as some power outside of us, but as a Divine Power within us for everyday life.

PRAYER

Spirit of God, descend upon my heart;
Wean it from earth; through all its pulses move;
Stoop to my weakness, mighty as Thou art,
And make me love Thee as I ought to love.
Amen
